Two Cases of Fracture of Skull with Recovery

Hamir Bhucti, a Hindu cultivator, aged 20, on the 17th March 1884 received a blow on the head with a sharp weapon whilst endeavouring to separate two men who were quarrelling. H e was admitted to the Dispensary soon after the injury and was found to have a small incised wound over the right parietal eminence which led down to the bone, which latter showed a small hair-like fissure, Is conscious., but requires assistance to walk. The part was shaved and old applied. Next day there was partial 1 >ss of sensation over the limits of left side and he had an attack of convulsion of the left side of the body without loss of consciousness. There was also vomiting. He was ordered 7 grains of Calomel, which had the effect of freely opening his bowels. The wound went on to suppurate. And on the 23rd he had another attack of convulsions. He was ordered one dram of Biomide of Potassium three times a day. On the 24th two small pieces of bone came out through the wound. After this wound seemed to heal up ; but again opened, and 011 the 11th April a*piece of bone could lie felt 011 probing the wound. The wound continued discharging, but the dead bone up to the 3 th April had not become discharged. On this date patient was discharged as he was anxious to go to h s home, and there was no further likelihood of danger.
